I have a dachshund she is 3yrs old. she is whinning all the time?

she gets ahold of my sons stuffed animals and carries them around like her puppies. She has never been breed therefor she has never had any puppies. I take these stuffed animals away from her and she just walks around crying constantly,ahe lays and whines she has been keeping us up at night just wondering around the house crying. I cant let her keep the stuffed animals because she still cries when she has them she lays on them and just worries herself sick with them. I would love to know why she is doing this. usually she stops about a day after i take them away but this time it has been 4 days and she isnt eating and not acting right. it's like she is depressed. she does have a stuffed sheep she has had since she was born she uses it as a pacifier. but she doesnt do the whinning bit withit. she uses it when she is going to sleep or just laying around being a lazy spoiled princess that she is. she sucks on its hind leg. i've never seen a dog do this! she is unique that's for sure.
